Jimmy Fallon, who took over the helm of “The Tonight Show” from Jay Leno on Feb 17, wanted to make a splash during his premiere week. So on Feb. 21, he pulled out all the stops and turned to Brian Williams for a repeat rap, this time to “Rapper’s Delight." As of midnight on Feb. 23, the hilarious video has been viewed on YouTube more than 5 million times.

According to the “NY Daily News,” Fallon’s initial ratings are great, beating out Jimmy Kimmel and David Letterman combined. While many critics were worried about The Tonight Show's numbers after Jay Leno's exit, others said that it was time for a change in command. So, on Feb. 21, Fallon turned to journalist Brian Williams for a sure-fire way to boost ratings with a rap (see above video) that generated more than 5 million YouTube views in less than 48 hours.

Jimmy Fallon and Brian Williams turned up the heat on Friday with a hilarious mash-up video that featured the stellar news anchor mixing it up with the "SNL" alum to the beat of Sugarhill Gang’s classic song, “Rapper’s Delight.” NBC posted the video on Feb. 21 and it went viral almost immediately. As of 11 p.m. EST on Feb. 22, it has been viewed 5,537,783 times and the number continues to soar. Earlier this year, Fallon and Williams rapped a tune by Snoop Dog that garnered more than 3.5 million views on YouTube.

So far, Fallon has been a ratings hit for NBC. According to “Variety," he delivered strong first week performance numbers. Jimmy's "Tonight Show" debut attracted 8.49 million viewers, the most watched "Tonight Show" episode since 1992 - Jay Leno's premiere.
