Brian Urlacher leaving Bears: Chicago, all-pro LB part ways after 13 seasons

Brian Urlacher is no longer a Chicago Bear. As weird as it may look next season, Urlacher will be making tackles for a new team.

According to ESPN on March 20, the Chicago Bears are moving forward without Brian Urlacher after both sides were unable to reach an agreement on a free-agent deal, the team announced Wednesday.

These type of stories are becoming all too common in sports.

The days of a team being dedicated to players is a thing of the past. As all four major sports have grown in popularity over the last two decades seeing someone like Urlacher, 34, who has played all 13 seasons with the Bears not be able to come to an agreement on a deal just reminds us of how sports is more of a business than ever.

"We were unable to reach an agreement with Brian and both sides have decided to move forward," Bears general manager Phil Emery said in a statement. "Brian has been an elite player in our league for over a decade. He showed great leadership and helped develop a winning culture over his time with the Bears. We appreciate all he has given our team, on and off the field. Brian will always be welcome as a member of the Bears.

What do you think Lions fans? Urlacher would look pretty good in Honolulu blue and silver don't you think?
