For over 10 years, Brian's Time has been a leading and well-known stallion in Japan. According to news coming in from Japan, he has apparently been euthanized.
Brian's Time was 28 years old. Per reports, the stallion fractured his right femur. He had to be put down after this severe injury.
The horse was Kentucky bred and raised by James and Joan Phillips of Darby Dan Farm. He was by Roberto out of Kelley’s Day by Graustark.
Brian’s Time was trained by John Veitch, He became a millionare after 21 starts, earning a total of $1,001,269.
During his career as a racehorse, Brian’s Time was the winner in the Gr. I Florida Derby and the Gr. I Pegasus Handicap, and also the Gr. II Jim Dandy Stakes as a 3-year old in 1988. He also finished second in that year's Gr. I Preakness Stakes and third in the Gr. I Belmont Stakes and Gr.I Travers Stakes.
In 1989 he transported across the ocean to Japan where he began his stud horse career. Brian’s Time remained at stud in Japan all his life. He sired the 1994 Japanese Triple Crown winner Narita Brian.
His dam, Kelley's Day, produced another 14 foals, and died of old age in 2003 at Darby Dan Farm near Lexington.
