Brian Epstein biofilm gets OK to license Beatles songs

A long-planned film biography on Beatles manager Brian Epstein has cleared another hurdle with the announcement Thursday that the filmmakers have gotten the OK to use Beatle songs in the film.

"I'm thrilled to report that after lengthy negotiations, we've secured the unprecedented rights to use Beatles' songs in 'The Fifth Beatle' film and we're fully financed at our $25 million budget!", screenwriter-producer Vivek J. Tiwary posted on the film's website.

In May, Tiwary reported that the film's soundtrack would feature vintage music from the era along with original songs written especially for the film by Joe Jackson, Robyn Hitchcock and others to be announced. Three songs written for the film, "Hurry For The Sky", "I'm Falling", and "TLC",  are on Robyn Hitchcock & The Venus 3's album, "Goodnight Oslo." Tiwary says "TLC" is "a partial pun and reference to Triptizol, Librium, and Carbrital, medications that Epstein was taking towards the end of his life."
