Hi-Way lanes would have been the place to be if someone wanted to get more acquainted with the man who hopes to be Franklin's next mayor.
The Republican candidate, Brian Alvey, held a fundraiser at the bowling alley in Franklin, Wednesday evening, where approximately one third of the lanes were reserved for the occasion.
In the ongoing interview with Mr. Alvey, subjects such as his experience as a "problem solver" in the business world, volunteer service at disaster sites, nearly two decades in the military, and of course, his plan for the city, if elected, were discussed.
In speaking with Brian, a business solution for a financially responsible city government was referred to as having a "winner on both ends", keeping the money circulating within the local government itself.
A phrase,"recycle the communities economy" was used Wednesday and Mr. Alvey can also see the need to "sell the community" to those who have its best interest at heart. All this, while holding on to the valuable history of Franklin,Indiana.
Also mentioned during the casual interview, was the removal of private services within the fire department and using a hospital based EMS in order to keep profits local. The city currently uses Seals Ambulance for transporting patients to the hospital.
Brian says he believes in an open door policy and has a plan for "First Friday for Franklin" in which the community will be invited to ask questions and present concerns. The Mount Olive Lutheran Church member proclaims himself as a servant and says he needs a mission.
Whatever a persons political view, the fact that Brian Alvey is fired up and passionate about his desire to be a "net gain instead of a net drain" for the community, cannot be denied. When speaking with the former military medic, there is a sense that he sees the city could use more than just a simple bandage for its wound.
