For a standout burger, eating at BRGR located in Prairie Village, Kansas is a must. BRGR Kitchen & Bar first opened its doors in March of 2010. Since then, they have steadily increased their customer base enough to open a second location this past July in the Power & Light District in Kansas City, Missouri.
Classified as a modern burger joint, it will not disappoint the most discriminating burger palate. From twelve choices of burgers to 10 “not-so-burgers”, there is something on the menu for everyone. BRGR uses a half pound blend of omega 3 chuck and short rib ground fresh daily combined with the freshest ingredients. You can also substitute bison if you wish.
According to General Manager Chris Walsh, the most popular burger on the menu is the Jucy Lucy. Mixed with Worcestershire sauce and stuffed with American cheese, it is topped with mayo and lettuce. For the most popular “not-so-burger,” the Salmon sandwich takes top honors. A blackened filet with sweet onion marmalade, chipotle aioli and mixed greens on a grilled sourdough bun is so popular, that when it was not initially on the menu at the new location, there was a public outcry to add it to the menu.
Your burger would not be complete without an order of fries. Regular French fries, sweet potato fries, truffle fries, truffle tater tots and onion rings are on the menu. If you can’t decide, you have the option of ordering a combo of 3 choices. The fries also come with a dipping sauce that sets BRGR apart from other burger joints.
BRGR Kitchen & Bar offers over 30 imported and domestic canned beers as well as New Belgium Brewery beer on draught. They also serve a variety of wines, mostly from California and Oregon. Also on the menu are traditional shakes as well as adult shakes such as the Caramel Kahlua.
The kitchen is open 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. during the week and 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The busiest times at the Prairie Village location are from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Expect to wait on a table starting around 6pm. If you are visiting the Power & Light location, seats fill up quickly during the lunch hour. With an average price of $10-15 per person, it’s an affordable option for the whole family.
