Brews for your beer-loving Valentine

So where are you taking your beer-loving valentine to celebrate this romantic holiday? Brewers around northern Ohio are going to help you celebrate this romantic day. Here's a sampling of what's on tap for Thursday:

Cornerstone Brewing (in Berea and Madison) have a chocolaty Love Potion #14 to celebrate the occasion.

Buckeye Brewing's Kiss Ale will be on tap at the Beer Engine. For $6 you will get a specially designed glass (that you keep) of this "Tropical-style stout with a twist." It’s infused with orange peel. Tropical stouts alone are sweeter, fruitier, and rum-like compared to other versions of stout beer. Pretend like you are in the tropics with this dark and special Valentine's Day offering. Try it with their special February burger of the month, a black bean "Love Burger."

Fat Head's Brewery & Saloon is celebrating with it's Oompa Loompa Cream Stout brewed with lots of Belgian chocolate and bourbon-soaked vanilla beans. Brewer Matt Cole describes the beer as having "a rich chocolate -- almost like chocolate milk-style aroma to it" with "creamy sweetness ... it has a little nuttiness in it as well. ... We try to go over the top with chocolate flavor, but dry enough so it's not syrupy sweet."

As Valentine's Day falls on Thursday, Great Lakes Brewing traditional Firkin Thursday offering will honor the day by tapping a firkin of Alberta Clipper Winter Porter with vanilla bean. This is a one night only event, starting at 4 PM in their beer cellar.

If your honey is a fan of strong beers like imperial ales and barleywines, then head over to the BREW Kettle Taproom & Smokehouse where the annual Ogrefest celebration is in full swing until February 17. With over 50 "ogre-worthy" beers rotating through their taps, you are sure to find some you will love.
