If you are a craft beer enthusiast and are looking for an excuse for a weekend jaunt then head to Boardman, Ohio and attend the 5th annual "Big Tap In" craft beer festival being held on Saturday, May 31 at the Shepherd Event Center. It is approximately a 90 minute drive from Cleveland to Boardman.
"The Big Tap In" Named the "Biggest Craft Beer Festival between Cleveland and Pittsburgh," The Big Tap In will feature 80 breweries with more than 250 craft beers from the United States and around the world.
Some Northeast Ohio breweries participating in the Big Tap In are Cleveland's Great Lakes Brewing Company, Brew Kettle, Indigo and Fat Heads, Lakewood's Buckeye, Medina's Lagerheads, Willoughby and Akron's Thirsty Dog and Hoppin Frog.
International selections include craft beer from Belgium, Germany, Scotland, England and Canada.
Twenty-one states will be represented at The Big Tap In including Hawaii. Check out the Kona beer.
There will be plenty of entertainment offered at The Big Tap In including a pipe band, roller derby performers, a samba club, belly dancers and live musical performances.
A large variety of food will also be available for purchase including pizza, BBQ, wings, hot dogs and Middle Eastern cuisine supplied by various restaurants.
General admission tickets to The Big Tap In are $50. Admission includes 30 drink tickets, a 5-year commemorative tasting glass and food samples. Designated driver tickets are $30 which include non-alcoholic drinks and food. All proceeds go to the "Making Kids Count" charity. All guests must be at least 21 years of age to attend this event.
