The Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival, presented by Brevard County, will take place Jan 23 - 28. A unique feature of the six-day event is The Raptor Project. Jonathan Wood, federally-licensed professional wildlife educator, who has appeared on numerous nationally-televised shows, will be on hand along with one of the largest collections of raptors in the world. And before that, Mr. Wood will present The Raptor Project at Brevard Zoo.
The exhibit will feature 15 to 20 raptors from Wood’s collection including eagles, hawks, falcons, and owls. In addition to being a wildlife educator, Mr. Wood is also a rehabilitator. Many in his collection have permanent handicaps that prevent them from being released back into the wild. So he has tamed them and trained them. Together, they travel the country, presenting almost 1000 educational programs to over 10 million people annually,
Brevard Zoo will host a three-day special exhibit featuring these impressive birds of prey January 19-21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Mr. Wood will host two shows each day at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. inside the Nyami Nyami River Lodge. The exhibit is free with paid Zoo admission.
