Wild Florida, Past, Present & Future will be the theme for the 2013 Art of Sand exhibit, which will be held at Brevard Zoo from February 16 to May 27. Each year the exhibit is held in a different location and has a different theme.
The sand sculptures will be located on a quarter-mile trail within the zoo and there will be 13 master sand sculptors represented. The theme, Wild Florida: Past, Present, & Future, will trace the history of wildlife and humans on the Florida peninsula. And it is just in time to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Ponce de Leon’s first exploration of North America.
This exhibit has a separate admission price of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for children ages 2 to 12. Children under 2 are free. That is in addition to the regular zoo admission price. Budget-conscious parties that would also enjoy the zoo's Treetop Trek should read Brevard Zoo announces new admission pricing to learn about savings.

The attached video, Art of Sand Festival 2010, created and shared by Florida Space Coast, shows how an exhibit like Art of Sand evolves from a pile of sand to a masterpiece. Then look at the finished products from the same exhibit, which took place at the Radisson Resort in Cape Canaveral. 2010 was the first Art of Sand exhibit and the general theme was ' Sand sculpting is art '. Each artist was to create a sculpture of something that represented an art to them.
