Brett Ratner resigns from Oscars after gay slur controversy

Brett Ratner has stepped down from his position as director of the 2012 Academy Awards following outrage from the Hollywood community after he used a gay slur at the screening of his new film 'Tower Heist'.

Ratner became Hollywood's latest pariah after he jokingly responded during a Q&A session that he never rehearses with his actor since "rehearsal is for f*gs". Ratner called in to the Howard Stern Show Monday morning, but spent most of his time reminiscing about making Lindsay Lohan get tested for STDs before they had sex and the time he threw water balloons at the homeless with Michael Jackson.

Stern said Tuesday that the Howard Stern Show received an avalance of hate e-mails directed at Brett Ratner after his appearance.
