Brett Montgomery has been appointed to the position of Executive Chef of the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center.
Brett brings 18 years of Marriott experience with him to Detroit. Most recently, he held the position Executive Chef at Renaissance Cleveland Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio. While there, he received the Top 100 Chefs in the Country Award when featured in the 2013 edition of Best Chefs America. Prior to that, he was the Executive Chef at Renaissance Houston Greenway Plaza Hotel in Houston, Texas. Brett began his Marriott career as a Line Cook, then Restaurant Chef and advanced to Garde Mange at Vinoy® Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club in Florida.
A Chicago born and New England native, Brett graduated with an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in Culinary Arts from Paul Smith’s College in New York. He then became an American Culinary Federation Certified Executive Chef. Aside from his devoted life to creating delectable cuisine, Brett can be found on the greens of a golf course, hiking trails, or pursuing his passion for travel. He now resides in downtown Detroit.
The Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center is owned by General Motors Corporation and Marriott International and managed by Marriott International. It is located on the riverfront in the heart of downtown Detroit and is currently undergoing a $30 million guest room and meeting room renovation to be completed at the end of 2014. The property has 1,328 guest rooms and 100,000 square feet of flexible meeting space to accommodate up to 2,200 guests. The hotel is within the General Motors Renaissance Center complex, 25-minutes from Detroit Metro Airport and 5 minutes from Windsor, Canada.
