Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre wouldn’t join the Miami Dolphins even if they signed him to a top notch deal.
After rumors spread Thursday that the Dolphins were interested in working out the former Packers great, he responded Friday by telling Miami Herald reporter Jeff Darlington he doesn’t have any interest.
Miami coach Tony Sparano fueled the Favre rumors by telling the media he couldn’t rule anyone out considering he’d just signed veteran linebacker Jason Taylor, 36, and had worked out former Giants running back Tiki Barber, also 36.
The 41-year-old Favre who was spotted in Mississippi was reportedly moving delicately, according to the Herald.
Favre probably doesn’t have much in the tank and wouldn’t be effective anyway, and his trip to the NFC championship in the 2009 season was likely his last hoorah.
The Brett Favre-to-Miami story was entertaining but not realistic.
The fact that the story grew legs in the first place shows how much the Dolphins are desperate for an elite quarterback.
More News & Notes
The Dolphins have signed former Jets quarterback Kevin O’ Connell and have given QB Tom Brandstater the boot.
O’Connell, who has also spent time with New England and Detroit, has only played in two-career games.
Ironically, one of the games he played was against Miami when the Patriots lost to the Dolphins 38-13 in 2008.
