Diamondhead, MS. -
It was reported by the Sun Herald earlier this week that Brandi Favre, sister of eventual Hall-of-Fame quarterback Brett Favre, was arrested at a meth lab bust at a condo in Diamondhead, MS. She was one of three people busted for manufacturing methamphetamines and generating hazardous waste. There were two other people that were caught for sale of a controlled substance for a total of five people in all.
Ms. Favre was taken into custody where a $40,000 bond was set. If convicted, she faces up to $1 million dollars in fines and 30 years in prison on each count. Hancock County Sheriff Maj. Matt Karl reported that about 9 grams of meth were found at a value $1,000 dollars in the raid. It is believed she was just there and a victim of wrong place, wrong time.
However, Brandi Favre has had a run in with the law previously on more than one account. In 1996, she was charged with unlawful use of a weapon at a motel in Slidell, LA. in a drive-by shooting incident. In 1999, she was arrested for felony shop-lifting along with her sister-in-law and another woman. Ms. Favre had completed a program in Louisiana that allowed her criminal charges to be ceased at that time.
Her brother, former Southern Miss quarterback Brett Favre, has had his own issues to deal with in the 2010-2011 year. His Minnesota Vikings squad finished a dismal 6-10 and missed the playoffs. Favre himself, suffered a shoulder injury which put a stop to a 297 game consecutive start streak which, in essence, has prompted the yearly "I'm retiring" bit. Now, he has to help deal with his sister's unfortunate situation. Good thing he has experience in dealing with family tragedies and issues.
