Brett Favre rumors have taken another interesting turn. The latest Favre rumors have the St. Louis Rams contacting him about returning to the NFL. According to a report from Thursday (Oct. 24), the call apparently took place on Sunday night (Oct. 20) after the Rams lost starting quarterback Sam Bradford for the season.
It is a move of desperation to go after the 44-year-old retired quarterback, but the Rams would certainly like to salvage the 2013 NFL season if possible. It's going to be tough for the team to survive losing Bradford to a torn ACL, especially since the offense was entirely built around him. Finding a suitable replacement isn't as easy as picking up the phone, though, and it certainly didn't work out in this instance.
The story came up when the former star of the Green Bay Packers was being interviewed on Thursday morning by ESPN. Speaking about the call, he stated, "It's flattering, but you know there's no way I'm going to do that. I had a great career. I think if anything, the last year that I played was an obvious writing-on-the-wall vision for you, if you will. It was time."
These Brett Favre rumors are certainly interesting for St. Louis Rams fans and fantasy football owners, but the reality is that he isn't even really considering another comeback. Queue the talk about Tim Tebow once again.
