Brett Favre promises to make decision on return at some point far, far in the future

With the Minnesota Vikings training camp two weeks away, Brett Favre has decided he still can't decide. The oft-retired quarterback is still keeping the Vikings hanging on whether or not he'll stride forth from Backwater, Mississippi, and lead them to the promised land.

After an offseason courtship, Favre has now decided he'll let the Vikings know by the start of training camp on July 30th.

Nice of you to be so precise in your timetable, Brett. Any time before, say, week five of the season will be peachy. I'm sure that dozens of merchants in the twin cities have been sitting on boxes of purple "Favre" jerseys for months, so any time you're ready will be just groovy.

Here's my depth chart for Minnesota right now, I'll take Brett Favre over Sage Rosenfels, Rosenfels over Tarvaris Jackson, and Jackson over the vague possibility that Brett Favre will come out of retirement.

At this rate, Favre's Hall of Fame bust may be wearing a U-Haul cap.
