On May 29, 2014, Bret Michaels, star of the TV reality show “Rock My RV” and former lead singer of the group Poison, was rushed off-stage due to a medical emergency. He was only three songs into his concert in Manchester, New Hampshire when the singer became very ill and unable to continue.

Band member, Pete Evick, posted on Bret's Facebook page what happened. "This is a message I never imagined I'd have to post. Tonight in Manchester, NH 3 songs into the set Bret had me sing a song as he rushed off stage. In the 9 years I've stood next to him, I've never seen a look like the one on his face as if I was a complete stranger. One of the crew returned instantly to notify me that Bret's blood sugar was extremely low."

Pete continued, "He returned to the stage only to announce that he could not continue. As you all know he is a health fanatic and fiercely monitors his blood sugar, he basically had to be dragged off the stage in his sickest of conditions. When I rushed to the bus he could barley speak, but begged me to apologize to the fans and seemed only concerned for them."

Over 16,000 fans posted comments and get well wishes to the Poison singer in response to Pete Evick’s post.

Bret, 51, has had Type 1 diabetes since childhood. Not letting the diabetes rule his life, Bret always took good care of himself, monitoring his blood sugar level meticulously. However, that is not the only health problem that Bret has endured. He needed to have an emergency appendectomy in 2010. Then he suffered a massive brain hemorrhage and shortly after that, he had a stroke.

Team Bret posted an update the next day to inform fans on the singer’s condition. Bret’s medical emergency was due to “complications involving insulin shock & severe low blood sugar, along with other conditions which doctors later determined included exhaustion/dehydration/fever and the noro flu virus.”

Team Bret posted a thank you message on Facebook that said, "Sending a huge shout out to all the paramedics both on and off duty who have assisted Bret tonight. No words can thank you enough for your help.”

Bret has a concert on June 31, 2014 in Albany that he wants to do, but at the time of this article, it has not been confirmation on whether the doctors will allow him to keep that concert date. He does have a number of concerts coming up in June that he apparently plans to keep. According to the postings on his Facebook page, he will be in Louisville, Indiana on June 18 at the Jim Porters Good Time Emporium. He has another concert scheduled for Rockton, Illinois on June 19. The proceeds of this show goes to the Rockton Lions Club. On June 24, Bret will be at the Rosebud Casino in Valentine, Nebraska.

Fans of Bret and the Poison band all wish him well. Their comments beg him to take care of himself first, because concerts can always be rescheduled.
