Bret Michaels' brain hemorrhage stems from a head injury he sustained last June at the 2009 Tony Awards. At least that's what real estate tycoon Donald Trump claims.

Trump, who says he has been in contact with personnel at the hospital where Michaels is staying, says that is what caused the internal bleeding that landed Bret in the Intensive Care Unit on April 22.

[Bret is in] "big, big trouble and the prognosis is not great," Trump, 63, told TMZ April 26. Michaels, 47, currently appears on Donald's hit reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice.

STAGE PROP LANDED ON HEAD

On June 7, 2009, Michaels was knocked to the ground after being hit on the head by a piece of stage scenery following a live performance with Poison bandmates at the 63rd annual Tony Awards. Bret got X-rays taken and required three stitches in his lip.

Meanwhile, Bret's team posted an update on the rocker's Facebook page April 26, stating Bret was suffering from slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness.

"As of now Bret remains in ICU under 24 hour surveillance," the statement read. "Further testing this week will help locate the source of the bleeding."

HISTORY OF DIABETES

Michaels has had Type 1 diabetes for years. On April 19 (3 days before he was rushed to the hospital), he underwent an emergency appendectomy. It's not clear whether his brain and appendix complications were related, but doctors reportedly feel his recovery will be complicated by his diabetes.
