The Redlands, California native Brent Ehrler was delighted and relieved after he won on Lewis Smith Lake. Ehrler beat series leader Pros on the final day of the event. “I knew I needed some nasty weather to throw the School E Rig and it paid off for his final catch a 4 ½ pound spotted.”
Hot bassing action
“I finally got the weather to make those fish come up and chase it.” He quickly champed four keepers in an action-packed open, within the first twenty-five minutes of boat launch. Ehrler caught 14 pounds and 11 ounces fishing depths of 15-30 pounds above brushpiles that put him in a seven pound lead and 60-9 and $125,000.
Increasing his lead each day
Ehrler’s “go To” bait all week was a five inch Yamamoto Senko which he wacky-rigged on a 1/0 Gamakatsu Weedless Split Shot/Drop-Shot hook. Adding to it with a Lucky Craft Reaction Tube on twelve-pound braid tide ona an 8-pund leader.
Powroznik in second
Catching his fish in depths of 47-50 feet alternating a drop shot and an umbrella on ten-pound braid with an eight-pound fluorocarbon lader. A 1/0 hook with a green pumpkin worm and using either a 3/8 ounce or ¼ ounce tungsten weight finished off with a drop shot rig, 53-5 and $35,000.
Morgan in third
Chasing largemouths on a War Eagle ½ ounce jig with a Zooom chunk trailer, green pumpkin, on sixteen-pound fluorocarbon he bagged 50-8 and $30,000.
