Can 54-year-old Brenda Gold be a cheerleader for the Cincinnati Bengals NFL team? USA Today reports Feb. 28 that Gold, a stunning woman in her 50s, intends to audition in May to be on the team's cheerleading squad.
Gold's son -- Matt Gold, 28 -- spoke about his mother's lofty ambitions. He said she "thinks of big ideas or projects, and goes at them head-on."
Brenda Gold is a math teacher at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati. Her son did not have a clear or concise answer explaining why his other would want to be on an NFL cheerleading squad.
"She was probably watching a Bengals game and saw the cheerleaders and said to herself, 'I can do that,'" Matt Gold said. "She probably can, too."
Brenda Gold was a super athlete in high school and played volleyball at the University of Kentucky. The 54-year-old has also practiced dancing the majority of her life. Her son said she is in amazing shape. In order to really prepare for the audition, Gold will take 10 dance lessons and will attend some of the squad's workshops.
Brenda Gold being a cheerleader for the Bengals is not an unreal goal for her when it comes to athletic ability, endurance, and stamina. She is most concerned about the "glamor factor," according to the report. The aesthetic standards for being an NFL cheerleader are severe and strict. In fact, Gold went on "Live with Kelly and Michael" for a makeover they had for women getting ready for a special event in their lives. Her long gray hair was chopped into a blonde pixie cut.
"When I first saw her, my jaw dropped," said Matt Gold. "She looked really beautiful."w.
Matt Gold is impressed with his mother despite the makeover.
"When she puts her mind to something, she's tireless in achieving it, especially as a teacher," he said. "It's amazing what she does to help her students each year. I'm rooting for her and wishing her luck, but I don't think she needs it. She's a great mom and a great person, and it's nice to see her getting some notice."
As beautiful as this woman is, will the NFL allow Brenda Gold to be a cheerleader for the Bengals team? Her self-confidence is admirable and hopefully it takes to where she wants to be. She will probably look better than any of the younger cheerleaders trying out!
