If you are a dog lover ( and consider your dog to be a member of your family) and a wine lover, here is the perfect event to combine both of your interests. Pack up your pooch and head to the Breitenbach Winery in Dover, Ohio and attend their 6th annual Fun Dog Show event being held on Saturday, August 31. It is approximately a 90 minute drive from Cleveland.
Fun Dog Show Located in the heart of Ohio Amish country, Breitenbach Winery is playing host to this family-friendly function that lets you spend some quality time with your dog and at the same time enjoy some fun activities with the entire family (and perhaps partake of some of Breitenbach Winery's fine wines while you are there).
All dogs can participate (after registration at a cost of $10 per dog) in the dog show and vie for prizes (There are prizes for the owners too) in categories such as "Owner/Dog Lookalike," "Best Costume," Handsome Male," "Prettiest Female," "Twins," "Senior Citizen," "Best Trick," "Smallest Dog," "Biggest Dog" and "You're so ugly, you're cute". All donations and fees will go to the Tuscarawas Humane Society.
The event will also feature the first annual "PAWSitively Fit" Extreme race, a 5K run that includes stations to stop and complete various exercises with your dog. Registration will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the race will be run at 5 p.m.
Activities include family fun games, a dog maze, a dog dance contest and a hot dog eating contest. There will also be several vendors selling dog-related items.
Hours for the Fun Dog Show itself are 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. The race begins at 5 p.m. Admission is free. There is a fee to register your dog in the show contest.
Special Note: Breitenbach Winery offers 40 varieties of wine. Tasting hours are Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
