Breezy and cold with some occasional lake effect snow showers or flurries (Photos)

A cold and breezy day is on tap to start the workweek with lake effect snows across western areas. A few snow showers could occasionally sneak into the Capital Region into this afternoon. High pressure will then briefly build into the region tonight with very cold temperatures as another clipper system passes south of the region. By late Tuesday into Wednesday, yet another clipper system will quickly move through with a period of light snow. Also, still monitoring the potential for a coastal storm on Friday.

Today – Intervals of clouds and sunshine and breezy with a chance of snow showers this afternoon. High 23-27. Winds west between 10 and 15 mph, gusting up to 30 mph. Chance of snow 40 percent.

Tuesday Night – Mostly cloudy with light snow likely after midnight. Low 15-19. Winds south around 5 mph. Chance of snow 60 percent. Snow accumulation around a coating to 1 inch.
