The Capital Region will be experiencing a brisk westerly wind flow today, which will keep a mix of sun and clouds over the area. Lake effect rain and snow showers, off of Lake Ontario, will remain north and west of the area through the day today. Some of the residual cloud cover from this activity may be transported down the Mohawk Valley on the brisk westerly winds. It will feel like autumn, with temperatures struggling to make it into the 50’s.
Mostly clear and chilly conditions are expected once again tonight, with the growing season likely to come to an end region wide. Temperatures will once again dip into the 30’s, with some 20’s possible over the Adirondack park.
Unchanging will be the word to describe the weather over the next few days, as daytime highs and overnight lows remain essentially the same, with sky conditions partly to mostly sunny during the day, and partly cloudy to mostly clear overnight. A weak system approaches the region on Saturday night, bringing a slight chance for some showers, though nothing major is anticipated. Cooler air is reinforced over the region behind this system, and it is possible by early next week, that the Capital Region could be in the 20’s for overnight lows. Temperatures look to slowly moderate by midweek next week, along with a chance of rain, as a stronger system impacts the area from the west.
