Saturday's Breeders' Cup Classic 2013 live stream and TV start time will mark the end of the schedule for a busy day's worth of horse racing at the track in Los Angeles, Calif. The Classic race will be the richest purse of the day, carrying a value of $5 million for the winning horse and team, for crossing the finish line first on the 1 1/4 mile track. Thanks to the NBC television and online streaming networks, fans of horse racing will be able to enjoy this race entirely by watching on TV or online.
The SBNation site reported on Nov. 2 that Game on Dude opened as the favorite for the Classic with odds of 8 to 5 to win the race. Game on Dude is ridden by Mike Smith and trained by the legendary Bob Baffert. Following as the second and third favorites are Mucho Macho Man with odds of 5 to 1, and Fort Larned at 6 to 1. In all, there's twelve horses competing this year, with a total of fourteen the maximum allowed in this particular race. Ron the Greek was a scratch and had 8 to 1 odds to win. Trainer Bill Mott told the media:
"Ron the Greek's out; he's got a quarter crack. Long-term it's not a problem, but he's not going to run in the Classic."
That leaves twelve other hopefuls to try to cross the finish line first in tonight's race, the ninth and final race of the Breeders' Cup Classic event. Two of the entries in this year's Classic were involved in the 2013 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, with Palace Malice and Will Take Charge among the entries tonight. Will Take Charge was also one of the competitors in the 2013 Preakness Stakes and finished seventh in the field. Could one of these two experienced horses finally pick up the major victory today?
Saturday night's Breeders' Cup Classic race has a start time scheduled for 8:35 p.m. EST or 5:35 p.m. PDT from Los Angeles. As mentioned, NBC and local affiliate stations will show the race on TV for viewers across the nation. The race is also scheduled for online streaming coverage through the NBC Sports Live Extra site, starting at 8 p.m. EST.
