I've heard this so many times. When I saw the recent Babble title, "Moms Don't Breastfeed For Fear of Sagging," it was the last straw.
Ladies, listen closely. Pregnancy causes the breast changes which you may interpret as sagging. Milk for breastfeeding plumps up your new roomy breasts. The sooner you stop producing milk, the saggier (emptier) your breasts appear. Furthermore, bras don't support your breasts. They cause the tendons to weaken, thus creating saggy rather than perky breasts.
Seriously, modern bras were first created to flatten women's chests, binding the breasts to "support" the boy-like style of the Flapper 30s.
Back to Babble: A survey of women ages 18 to 25 revealed that 49 percent of them didn't plan to breastfeed mainly because they don't want to ruin their boobs. BabyChild.org.uk commissioned the survey in response to supermodel Gisele Bundchen's pro-breastfeeding stance.
In addition to the fear of saggy breasts, the co-founder of BabyChild.org.uk, Jill Tovey, commented on further findings of the survey: "...the study also revealed a slightly more concerning topic; namely the fact that a percentage of the young women who took part in the study felt that breasts were sexual, therefore deeming breastfeeding an ‘inappropriate act’. This is a somewhat worrying school of thought, particularly given the fact that many women seem to be turned off breastfeeding because of this inaccuracy; and breastfeeding is one of the most natural things in the world. However, the competition of breast versus bottle will forever be debated, and probably never solved. Perhaps an improved education of the benefits and drawbacks of breastfeeding will help young women to come to a more informed decision when the time comes, rather than basing their choice on vanity or fear.”
...which is a whole 'nother issue with serious implications given the significant benefits of breastfeeding for babies and mothers.
Back to the saggy boob issue: Bras. Bras cause ligaments to atrophy. They smother nipples. They compress lymph nodes. Plus, they're uncomfortable and get in the way of breastfeeding.

I can't believe people think breastfeeding causes sagging, it's the pregnancy that does that!
