Breast Cancer Awareness - Know what's in your cleaners!

Every day, research is linking our environment to different types of cancers. In response to this, we are eating better, exercising more and trying to be aware of what we are using in our homes. One part of this is knowing what is in your cleaning products. Did you know the manufacturers of cleaning products do not need to list all of the ingredients that are in their products? The best way to keep your home environment clean AND healthy is to know what you're using to clean it. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month - take a pledge to try one new green cleaner in your home. You and your family will be glad you did.

Here is a DIY cleaner that will take the place of any powdered scrubs you are now using. It's very simple yet works as well or better than something you would buy in the grocery store.

1 c baking soda

1 c borax

1 c table salt

6-8 drops of Lemon grass essential oil

Mix the powdered ingredients well in a large bowl. Add the essential oil and mix completely. Store in an air tight container and use as needed. You can clean sinks, counters and even your toilet bowl with this mixture. Add 6 drops of Tea Tree oil for use in and around the toilet bowl.
