Happily, it appears that Daryl’s screen time is about to increase dramatically.
Comicbook.com has confirmed that in the second half of Season 4, the character of Daryl Dixon will be the focus of one, possibly two full episodes. It is unknown whether the episodes will be flashbacks of Daryl’s life before the zombie apocalypse, or if they will follow the present-day story as he and Beth flee into the forest after The Governor’s attack on the prison.
Either way, the news is terribly exciting for Daryl Dixon fans who have grown weary of watching Rick’s eternal angst and the death of beloved characters. Adding layers of depth to Daryl Dixon is a bit like serving Grandma’s homemade chocolate cake – every bite is delicious, and everyone always wants more.
During his few scenes so far in Season 4, fans savored his finger-licking handshake with Patrick and his participation in the zombie shoot-out at the Big Spot! in “30 Days Without an Accident”. It was exciting to watch him rescue people (especially the children) in Cellblock D, and sad when he had to kill undead Patrick in “Infected”. For the “Isolation” episode, Daryl held Rick back from beating Tyreese to a pulp, then showed off his driving skills while leading Tyreese, Michonne, and Bob the Medic off to the veterinary clinic to get medical supplies.
In what must be considered his most sexually charged moment so far of the season, Daryl asserted his alpha-male dominance over Bob by eye-f*cking him into a puddle of alcoholic goo in “Indifference”, but then fans had to wait three long episodes to see Daryl’s less-then-dramatic reaction to Carol’s banishment in the Season 4 part finale “Too Far Gone.”
February seems like it will never get here.
The Walking Dead Mid-Season Premiere airs on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 9 PM ET on AMC.
