One article cannot do justice describing even briefly the sadness and loss of Palestine. Awareness is overdue in providing education to the international community as a whole about the suffering of Palestinians at the hands of Israel.
We must wake up and break the barrier that blinds us. A barrier that holds and confines Palestinians as prisoners in their own land. The only way to accomplish this great task is to educate.
The American Association for Palestinian Equal Rights (AAPER) is the organization which has the knowledge, resources and support to achieve what may seem the impossible.
There’s urgency that Americans be educated about the true state of affairs in Palestine. The ceaseless illegal occupation of Israel in Palestine must stop.
AAPER, located in Washington, DC, was founded by an attorney who had studied human rights law only a few blocks from Capitol Hill during the second Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation. He was alarmed by the congressional resolutions that utterly failed to hold Israel responsible, much less accountable, for violations of Palestinian human rights.
The organization is made up of a fast-growing group of Americans who believe in a just and unprejudiced U.S. policy toward Palestine that advances and promotes equality in Israel and Palestine, peace in the Middle East and sustainable security for the United States. AAPER is an “institution, not a set of individuals”. It represents the unity of like minds working together for peace, human rights and freedom. A standard infused in the organization's culture and reflected on its website.
AAPER is a privately funded organization, which funds are primarily utilized to provide educational resources and material about the Palestine conflict. It also offers internships for its Washington, DC office.
The American Association for Palestinian Equal Rights’ objective is to increase awareness and educate America, and Richmond, Virginia is one of a number of chapters starting up throughout the country. The initiative of these chapters is to have peaceful gatherings and Free Palestine Walks in designated towns and cities to offer awareness and enlightenment on the Palestinian atrocious plight and illegal Israeli occupation.
Each AAPER chapter offers membership and the opportunity to volunteer to help spread knowledge throughout different communities, and thereby increasing awareness to the illegal siege of Gaza and the enforced imprisonment and suffering of Palestinians on their own land.
On Saturday, October 9, 2010, AAPER is sponsoring Free Palestine Walks in several states from Arizona, California and Hawaii all the way to the east coast in Washington, DC and New York. Everyone who would like to make a difference and show their support for Palestine can register to participate for a Free Palestine Walk in their city on Oct. 9 or on Oct. 23 in Richmond, Virginia.

The time has come to end the illegal siege of Gaza by Israel. Palestinian children must have the right to an education without fear of being shot for breaking curfew. Palestinians must have the right to medical care as anyone of us. Palestinians must have the right to Peace and Security as is the United Nations’ vow per the Geneva Convention towards all nations. Palestinians must have the human right to live in peace in their own country without barriers and walls. The horror, sadness and terrible loss of innocent lives must stop.
The time has come for the citizens of the United States to come together in unity to take a stand and let their voices be heard in the name of human rights and justice for the people of Palestine. It is time for the United States to stop its financial support to Israel. It is time we realized that we are helping destroy and murder the innocents of Palestine.
