Breaking news coming in to a sunny San Francisco today is about Peter O'Toole.
Peter O'Toole, passed away today. He was 81 years old.
"Oh, I remember his movies so well. Who could ever forget Lawrence of Arabia?" says San Francisco resident, Katie Adler.
The role got the actor his first Oscar nomination, back in 1962.
However, ABC 7 News in San Francisco reports that O'Toole never actually won an Oscar, despite being nominated for one many times.
"He was last nominated for "Venus" in 2006. With that he set the record for most nominations without ever winning, though he had accepted an honorary Oscar in 2003," says ABC 7 News.
"He seemed to have a very full life so I am glad of that," says San Francisco resident and movie fan, Alice Marshall.
O'Toole had been ill in the hospital and his agent, Steve Kenis, told press only that he died "following a long illness," without actually saying what that illness was. The actor died on Saturday.
It's likely, according to O'Toole's daughter, Kate, that a memorial will take place later.
She said the family was overwhelmed
"by the outpouring of real love and affection being expressed towards him, and to us, during this unhappy time. .. In due course there will be a memorial filled with song and good cheer, as he would have wished."
