From someone directly in the earthquake area...I'd be interested to know where you sourced your information from? CHRISTCHURCH in the centre of the south Island (not wellington which is in the north Island) has got SUBSTANTIAL damage estimating BILLIONS of dollars. Two recorded serious injuries and after shocks STILL being felt more than 24hours later. Centre city on 7pm lock down due to damage. AND it was 7.1 with after shocks registering as high as 5. OH and one more thing we have been declared in a " STATE OF EMERGENCY" hmmmm who sources the info?
Hi Anon thanks so much for your comment. While a lot more is known NOW about the earthquake, when this piece was written it was Breaking News and had only just happened. At that time very little was known about the incident. Now that more is known and there have been aftershocks, feel free to read my follow up article. Thank you.
It's terrible for what happened to Christchurch and I hope that no-one was seriously hurt.
