The National Finals Rodeo will remain in Las Vegas through 2024 after Las Vegas Events (LVE) and the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association announced that they have agreed to a new contract.

Details of the agreement include LVE guaranteeing $16.5 million in purse and sponsorship. The contestant purse will be $10 million from 2015-2019 while $3 million annually will go to the stock contractors. Contestants are guaranteed $10,000 each year and beginning in 2020 and running through 2024, there will be a cost-of-living increase.

“For nearly 30 years, Las Vegas has built a strong partnership with the PRCA and its contestants. This new agreement clearly demonstrates the commitment that Las Vegas has to the PRCA, to the overall growth of the sport of rodeo and to the contestants. We feel that the new agreement is beneficial to all parties, and we’re very pleased to continue to host this iconic event for an additional ten years.” - Bill McBeath, chairman of the Las Vegas Events Board of Trustees

Known as the richest and most prestigious rodeo in the world, the NFR has sold out every night of the annual 10 day event - 270 consecutive performances - and attracts the best riders and performers in the industry. Every year, the top 15 contestants in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding, compete against one another in their respective events for the opportunity to win each round and take home the top prize money.

At the conclusion of the 2013 NFR, officials announced that a new contract could not be agreed on and all signs pointed to the event moving to Florida.

For nearly 30 years, the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo has been a part of the Las Vegas culture and for at least 10 years more, that will continue.
