The PA Turnpike is closed eastbound due to a series of pileups involving hundreds of drivers. FOX 29’s Skyfox, a Philadelphia station, shows a long line of pileups – just simply one after the other – in the eastbound lanes at Bensalem.

The turnpike is closed between Willow Grove and Bensalem for the eastbound lanes, according to the PA Turnpike. Motorists are urged to us an alternate route. FOX29 is suggesting Street Road as an alternate. There is no ETA on when the accidents will be cleared and the road re-opened at this time (9:30 a.m.).

The first accident occurred around 7:30 a.m., according to the PA Turnpike. One of the crashes included a jack knifed truck.

There are a few injuries reported. CBS3 is reporting five injuries at the moment. Those five were sent to Abington Hospital.
