This just in...according to People Magazine, Charlie Hunnam, known for his role as Jax in the FX show, Sons of Anarchy, has given up his role as the brooding billionaire Christian Grey in E.L. James best-selling trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation.
In a joint statement, by Universal Pictures and Focus Features, said, “The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.”
This news comes just over a month from when the initial report of Hunnam was to play Christian in the greatly anticipated movie adaption.
This is a blow to the project since it took months to properly find the "right" actor. Other actors who've been rumored to have been in the running were White Collar's Matt Bomer and Vampire Diaries Ian Somerhalder.
The role of Antastsia Steele has not change. Dakota Johnson, daughter of actors Melanie Griffin and Don Johnson, is still on board with the project.
