Police are going door-to-door questioning residents and shopkeepers in lieu of the latest bank robbery in Saugerties. Key Bank, located on the South side of Main Street in the center of the Village of Saugerties, was the scene of the most recent bank robbery in this historic community. Officers on the scene said cameras all around the area would make it difficult for the perpetrator to avoid getting caught. A picture of the suspect is posted on the Times Herald Record website. Anyone with information is asked to please contact police at 845-246-9800.
Key Bank has a rear door to its parking lot, which is accessed through Jane Street, making it easy for patrons and robbers to exit quickly. This is the third time it was robbed in this reporter's memory.
Sawyer Savings Bank, also located in the Village of Saugerties, and also with a read door to a parking lot, was robbed on April 10, 2012. By November, all three suspects in that case were apprehended and had admitted guilt.
