Emergency personnel arrived after a 911 call was received, there a woman, presumed to be the baby’s mother, was trying to administer CPR on the child. According to reports there were various other household members, including youngsters, were also in the hotel room at the time of the incident. It occurred at the Motel 6 in the 800 block of West DeKalb Pike.

Motels have become a haven for families who have been displaced by lack of resources such as unemployment, low income and homelessness. Many agencies in Pennsylvania try to place families in hotels/motels when no other resources are available such as emergency housing, homes, or apartments. Keeping families together is a goal of many agencies but motel rooms create a crammed situation for the families.

Police will continue their investigation into this incident and more information will be released as it is learned.
