A wind blown 10-acre wildfire which closed I-80 in Utah on Tuesday afternoon. A wildfire started Tuesday afternoon between I-80 and SR-201 and shut down both highways. The windblown started in a grassy area and burned a marina nearby; at least one building in the marina burned down.
The highways were closed down because the smoke caused limited visibility Tuesday afternoon.
The Utah Highway Patrol said the wild fire is near the Salt Lake City and Tooele County line. Firefighters are on the scene.
Highways eastbound I-80 and the westbound lanes of SR-201 were closed because of limited visibility from smoke.
There is a natural gas facility nearby in Utah County, and fire crews are keeping an eye on the direction of the fire in the area, according to ABC 4.
The winds are blowing about 25 mph to the south and it is expected to be windy for most of the day, according to KSL weather. Two other wildfires in Weber and Utah counties have been reported on Tuesday.
