Oakland is across the bay from San Francisco and this is a breaking news story. The vault that exploded into flames on Tuesday belonged to PG&E. There have now been evacuations in the surrounding areas, say officials to KTVU Channel 2 News.
This suspicion is not unwarranted as officials have told news crews that a gas line may, indeed, have ruptured at the area close to Golf Links Road and Fontaine in Oakland.
More information will be forthcoming as news comes in.
This story is similar to a previous breaking news story where a Delta Airlines caught fire. The plane had to jettison fuel to land safely. It was a horrific experience when passengers saw that the wing of the plane was on fire.
