Patrice Evra has agreed to signed a 1 year contract extension with Manchester United, that will see him stay till the end of the 2014-2015 season.

Manchester United released a statement on the matter stating, "Patrice Evra's contract at Manchester United has been extended and the popular Frenchman's stay at Old Trafford continues into a tenth season.

"Evra, who joined United from Monaco in 2006, has made 379 appearances for the Reds, scoring 10 goals and has also stood in as captain when previous club skipper Nemanja Vidic was absent through injury."

The extension of Evra's contract may come as a shock to many as it seemed likely that Evra would be leaving Manchester at the end of the season, with reports stating that he would possibly sign with Serie A Champions Juventus. With Evra's replacement being Southampton left back Luke Shaw.
