Breaking down the new Beatles iTunes 'Love' tracks (SPOILERS!)

(Note: If you want to be surprised at what you'll hear in the new "Love" tracks, you might want to come back to this after you've heard them.)

Sir George Martin and Giles Martin's new "Love" tracks "The Fool on the Hill" and "Girl," which came onto iTunes Tuesday, have a lot of different elements in them, some recognizable, some not so on first few listens.

"The Fool on the Hill" starts out with a sitar, some very unfamiliar sounds, then what appears to be an instrumental part of the song stripped away from the rest of it. The song then starts in and it appears an organ can be heard. The McCartney vocal is the same as the master take. "Mother Nature's Son" is also woven in. Osborne, who contacted us on Twitter, also heard "Because" and "Penny Lane."

On "Girl," the guitar intro of "And I Love Her" comes in right away. A sitar drone can also be heard. Osborne also heard "For the Benefit of Mr. Kite."  (You can read his full evaluation of the tracks here (http://forgetthebox.tumblr.com/post/3184428764/new-beatles-tracks-from-l...).

Of the two tracks, we think "The Fool on the Hill" is definitely the most interesting. But both will take several listens to sort them out.

(Tip: If you're having trouble seeing the new "Love" tracks by themselves to purchase them separately, search for the track names and the "Love" versions will come up.)

I love "The Fool on the Hill", especially the amazing new opening, so I bought it. But they should have done more with "Girl", it sounds more like the Rubber Soul version.

I always wanted more songs. Thanks to the Martin boys, I got 'em!

Oh, also, does this iTunes version have the extended versions of "Revolution" and "Back in the USSR" that are on the DVD Audio? That's what it says on Wikipedia. And would that be worth it to but those tracks?

I enjoy the Love mashups, they should create another album or EP with a couple more songs. Imagine "Sexy Sadie" with "I'm only Sleeping" with some outtakes.

Hm I checked the lengths on iTunes and it shows 3:23 for Revolution & Back in the USSR as 2:34, longer than on the cd. I wonder if it's an error or if they used the longer versions but without surround mix. I don't want to buy them and check though since I have the cd.

The beginning of "Fool On The Hill" sounds like it also has the maracas in the opening of "I Am The Walrus"

If anything "Girl' make a good case for anyone thinking that the Rubber Soul LP can be remixed into true up to date STEREO..Tit, Tit, Tit, Tit, sound clearer/cleaner than the just released stereo remasters CD's..worth the $1.29 for each track
