'Breaking Dawn Part 2' is No. 1 in movies on demand; 'Wreck-It Ralph' is No. 2

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" rose from No. 2 to No. 1 in movies on demand from March 4 to March 10, 2013, according to Rentrak. Since the movie premiered on a Saturday (March 2, 2013), not on the usual Tuesday that most movies premiere on demand, the No. 2 debut was based on a partial week of revenue for the movie. Once a full week was tallied for "Breaking Dawn Part 2," the film jumped to the No. 1 spot for movies on demand. In "Breaking Dawn Part 2," the final chapter of the "Twilight Saga" movies, vampire married couple Bella and Edward Cullen (played by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson) are adjusting to life as new parents. The birth of Bella and Edward’s daughter Renesmee (played by Blanca Estella Gomez) brings conflict between Bella and her lifelong werewolf friend Jacob (played by Taylor Lautner) and an all-out war between the Cullens and the Volturi vampires. Although the "Twilight" movies have generally been hated by critics, the movies have all been blockbusters because of their devoted fans.

"Wreck-It Ralph" debuted at No. 2. Based on a video game, the Oscar-nominated animated film "Wreck-It Ralph" features John C. Reilly as the voice of Wreck-It Ralph, who longs to be as beloved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix-It Felix (voiced by Jack McBrayer). The problem is that nobody loves a Bad Guy. But they do love heroes, so when a modern, first-person shooter game arrives featuring tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (voiced by Jane Lynch), Ralph sees it as his ticket to heroism and happiness. He sneaks into the game with a simple plan — win a medal —but soon wrecks everything, and accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Ralph’s only hope? Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman), a young troublemaking “glitch” from a candy-coated cart racing game who might just be the one to teach Ralph what it means to be a Good Guy. "Wreck-It Ralph" was a huge hit with critics and movie audiences.

"Red Dawn" debuted at No. 3. Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson star in this action flick, which is a remake of the 1984 film of the same name. Red Dawn, a city in Washington state, awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and Red Dawn is the initial target. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerrilla group of fighters. The 2012 version of "Red Dawn" got mostly negative reviews from critics and did mediocre business at the box office.

"Argo" dropped from No. 1 to No. 4. At the 85th Annual Academy Awards ceremony, "Argo" won three Oscars: Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film Editing. Based on true events, “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis in 1979 — the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (played by Ben Affleck, who also directed and produced "Argo") comes up with a risky plan to get the Americans safely out of the country. "Argo" was big hit with critics and movie audiences who saw the film in theaters.

"Playing for Keeps" debuted at No. 5. Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Dennis Quaid star in “Playing for Keeps,” a romantic comedy about a charming, down-on-his luck former soccer star (played by Butler) who returns home to put his life back together. Looking for a way to rebuild his relationship with his son, he gets roped into coaching the boy’s soccer team. But his attempts to finally become an “adult” are met with hilarious challenges from the attractive “soccer moms” who pursue him at every turn. "Playing for Keeps" got mostly negative reviews from critics and was a big flop at the box office.
