Promoting the release of the last installment of “The Twilight Saga,” “Breaking Dawn Part 2,” stars Booboo Stewart and Julia Jones stopped by Dallas. On Wednesday, March 6, I got the chance to talk to them in a press junket about the film and their favorite “Twilight” character.
In the “Twilight” films, Booboo Stewart plays the friendly, peaceful and easygoing werewolf Seth Clearwater. Julia Jones plays Seth’s werewolf sister, Leah Clearwater, and she is the opposite of her little brother. Leah’s least favorite people are vampires, and she hates that they have to help them out.
Question: You character Leah died saving Esme, no one would have guessed she would ever do such sacrifice. What do you think led Leah to make that decision?
Julia Jones: “I loved that that was in there. I talked to Bill about it, obviously I wasn’t in the scene but we had discussions about it. One of the things in the books about Leah is that she wasn’t going to be able to have children, because of the transformation. So it was very touching to me that she ended up sacrificing her life for the mother – for Esme, who is the mother figure of the Cullen’s.”
Question: Do you both get a lot of recognition from fans?
Booboo Stewart: “It’s different wherever you go, and in the most unexpected places. Like, sometimes you would never guess someone is a “Twilight” fan and they end up being the biggest fan yet. You don’t get used to it [the attention] but you’re always prepared for it in a way.”
Stewart your fans are wondering if you’ll be returning to the music scene.
Stewart: “I don’t know. Music has always been really fun and it’s a great hobby to have. In this movie I just finished filming, ‘An Evergreen Christmas,’ I actually played the drums a bit. But, yeah I’m not sure. We’ll see.”
Question: Who are your favorite characters in the film?
Stewart: “I like Chaske Spencer’s character, Sam Uley the leader of the wolfpack. He [Spencer] is perfect for that character.”
Jones: “I actually really love Aro, now that I think about it, Michael Sheen’s character. In the books though I really like Rosalie, I feel like Rosalie and Leah have a lot in common.”
