According to San Francisco's ABC 7 News, John Kerry, the Secretary of State, says that chemical weapons have been used in Syria. He goes on to state that President Bashar Assad has gotten rid of any evidence to show that they have been used.
San Francisco local, Katie Adler, says: "That's disgraceful. There is NEVER any justification for chemical weapons being used. How can Syria expect the world to be sympathetic to their cause if this is what they are doing?"
John Kerry has gone on to say that the attack last week was a "moral obscenity" and that everyone should be shocked by what has happened
Although no details are yet forthcoming, Kerry alleges that more information will be revealed in the coming days, and that information will show the US has proof of these chemical weapon attacks.
While the Syrian president, Bashar Assad has denied that any chemical weapons were used, Kerry says the Syrian government should not have "shelled the affected area" if it were indeed trying to cooperate with the UN as it was trying to ascertain what had really happened.
News reports are questioning whether this action might cause the US to take military action against Syria.
