A major update has emerged from Warner Bros Pictures dealing with the highly anticipated Batman v.Superman: Dawn of Justice. The next film from Warner Bros and DC Comics will pit two of the greatest superhero together for the first time on the silver screen. The movie will feature Henry Cavill as Superman; while Ben Affleck to be playing the Dark Knight himself: Batman. This film has had an interesting road since it was announced last year at Comic-Con. The film has cast a variety of DC characters, but the most shocking move was when the blockbuster was pushed back from 2015 to 2016. For sometime now, Dawn of Justice was slated to hit theaters on May 6, 2016; which would have pitted against Captain America 3. However, in a report from Warner Bros. Studios, Batman v.Superman has changed dates yet again.
While some may fear the worst, the change for this movie may actually be for the best. Instead of coming to theaters on May 6, 2016, Batman v.Superman: Dawn of Justice will be hitting theaters on March 25, 2016. So now the film will be hitting theaters two months earlier then previously expected. While it may seem surprising for a film of this caliber to hit screens in the spring, the likes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier showed that a a superhero movie can come out during a month like March and be just as effective as if were released in the summer. Then again, this Batman v.Superman we are talking about. The studio could release it at any time and people would likely hit theaters to see the blockbuster.
The news did not stop with Batman v.Superman changing dates as Warner Bros had another announcement for their DC properties,;and it was just as crucial as changing the date for Dawn of Justice. According to the report, WB has scheduled nine release dates for DC Comics. Thanks to Comingsoon.net, the schedule goes as followed:
- August 5, 2016
- June 23, 2017
- November 17, 2017
- March 23, 2018
- July 27, 2018
- April 5, 2019
- June 14, 2019
- April 3, 2020
- June 19, 2020
WB also has two has November 16, 2018 and November 20, 2020 slated down for release dates. The article suggest that Warner Bros. plans to use those dates for "Event" films. Bet that as it may, the fact is that Warner Bros has over nine slots for films dealing with the DC Universe. What these films could be about remain a mystery, but the fact remains that the DC Cinematic Universe is on the horizon, with both Batman and Superman leading the charge.
