Skyler White, the things you do for the man you love. Skyler lives in a bunker, It’s a beautiful house in a charming neighborhood but she is controlled by her husband who is power-tripping and greedy. She can’t ask for what she wants without fear of reprisal. Skyler needs to find her voice, if her sister, Marie isn’t telling her what to do her husband the meth dealer is.
"All the women who are independant, throw your hands up at me." -Destiny's Child Independant Women.
The truth and nothing but the truth
Can she handle the truth? Not until her sister, Marie tells her Walter is in custody with Hank does Skyler come forward to confess to Walt Jr.
Build the Know Like Trust Factor
Walter never has to beg her.
Loss aversion, going after the low hanging fruit. “You are not alone.” She and Walter have history and kids, this is not something you give up on her dysfunctional mind tells her. Walter has cancer now is not the time to abandon him. Unspoken needs and outrageous expectations.
What’s in it for her
Luxury, the house, the money, the life. Change is not easy, we are all creatures of habit, no matter how bad the habit is. If there is emotion behind it, all the more power to it. Even Marie taking the baby from Skyler isn’t enough to make her rethink what she is getting herself into.
“Stand by your Man” is playing loudly in the background
"Always 50/50 in relationships...girl I didn't know you could get down like that."
Suppressing “her needs” is what most women do to be in a relationship. “You can learn to live with the things that make you unhappy.” Suffering is not love. Skyler needs to lead well and learn quickly and unbreak her craving heart. The real her under all the doubt, superficiality and life crisis.
But her man is not standing by her
The myth of Breaking Bad everyone seems to be living on is that Walter got into the ‘meth business’ to help his family. It’s never been about the family. It is all about Walter. The lies people are willing to tell straight to your face and in front of God should never cease to amaze anyone at this point in the story.
It sounds good but it’s never been the truth of the matter. Killing and dealing in drugs, making it, selling it, are not things you do for your family, it never will be.
It’s not a situation Skyler asked for, to be in the middle of a meth lab. But it’s not a situation she is willing to walk out of either
Truth is what she needs. If Skyler and Walter believe in the same God and have the same values then it’s a match made in heaven. Sklyer’s whole being is acting out of fear, and she is a strong woman, when will she stand up to the plate and swing for the fences?
You don’t serve the world by playing small. You serve the world, yourself and your kids by becoming your truest and most empowered self. Believe in yourself and the universe will be yours on a silver platter.
Skyler sees Walter and the world he’s involved in through her “rose colored glasses.” She’s good and has good thoughts, so Walter must be operating on the same level, right? Wrong. She’s playing small while her dreams are big. Skyler is hungry for soul, life and relationship and for her undivided self. Hungry to be Skyler.
Walter’s cancer situation has him operating “under pressure”
Walter has taken an unchartered course, the spiral downward to ego. How many times will Walter need to hit rock bottom before he starts to climb his way out? Walter is on his own game board all by himself. He is not on the same game board or even playing the same game with her.
Awareness would serve her well right now. Brutal loss and pain, and she has drifted into hibernation for protection from the harshness, for rest and recovery. For women who have walked through this ‘trial of fire’ and come out on the otherside, the hope for Skyler is that when she comes out of hibernation, she will be fully awake and that there is a gift of life for the taking.
