As the popular TV series closed in on the final two episodes of its sixth and last season, Hank, Walt’s brother-in-law, is murdered in cold blood by Todd’s white supremacist “Uncle Jack,” as Walt pleads for Hank’s life even offering $8 million for Hank’s salvation.
Unbeknownst to Todd, his uncle, and the rest of the gang of thugs, Jesse watches from underneath Walt’s car. Walt, reasoning that Jesse is responsible now for Hank’s death, gives Jesse up.
The chips begin to fall at warp speed and everything seems to be spiraling out of control. Writer Vince Gilligan has control though (of the viewers) and with his craftiness leaves one wondering what may happen next. It is clear that Walt’s motivation, however misguided, is still geared towards providing for his family.
At the end of the hair-raising episode, it appears that Walt is on his way to obtaining a new identity.
There are still a lot of loose ends, and only writer Gilligan, the actors, and film crew know how it will all play out. Will Walt disappear? Will he commit suicide? Will he return to Albuquerque and face the music?
Next week we will be that much closer to the answer.
