"Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin is a huge fan of the television series "Breaking Bad." He likes it so much, that it actually inspires him in his writing. According to Renegade Cinema on Sept 18, Martin said that the character of Walter White is more of a monster than anyone in Westeros in his stories.
That means that the author of "Game of Thrones" puts White on a level of evil even higher than names like Tywin Lannister, Walder Frey, the Boltons, and Joffrey Baratheon. That is high compliments indeed.
When it comes to the most recent episode, "Ozymandias," Martin called it a complete gut punch and an amazing episode. That is also coming from the man who wrote the Red Wedding sequence that shocked fans of his own television series last season.
He also made the offhand comment that, since White is a bigger monster than anyone he has created, that he needs to do something about that. Thinking of the Red Wedding and characters like Joffrey, it is very frightening to think of what Martin could come up with to beat "Breaking Bad."
Fans of both "Breaking Bad" and "Game of Thrones" should have something to cheer about this weekend, as both shows have picked up nominations for the Emmy Awards and one of these shows has a great chance of winning the Emmy this year.
