Breaking Bad doggy style

As most people realize, dogs are not born bad, they are taught to be bad. Dogs are sensitive creatures that only want to please their human family members, but if they are taught to be ruthless, you must realize that they will learn well.

The same goes for those dogs that have access to marijuana or drug-induced food stuffs. Dogs are not likely to choose drugs, their humans are either negligent by leaving THC substances around for their pet to get into or they are intentionally feeding their canine the bi-products of the marijuana. In either case, the THC is making dogs extremely ill.

Some veterinarians around the country are witnessing a rise in the numbers of dogs treated for marijuana ingestion while some veterinarians in states that have legalized the use of marijuana are noticing a downturn in the number of dogs with marijuana poisoning. The respective results may even vary from year to year depending on the people involved in this dire stupidity.

A dog may display the following symptoms if he or she has ingested marijuana:

· Incoordination

· Listlessness

· Dilated pupils

· Slow heart rate

· Urinary incontinence

· A startle reaction (when the dog appears to be sleepy and begins to topple over but catches him or herself and regains balance)

If you suspect or for sure know that your dog has ingested marijuana, it is your duty to report this to the veterinarian as he or she is not responsible for your recreational habits thus do not have to report them. They may ask you to run a urine test that you can obtain at most drug stores. It won’t be the easiest thing to do as you will need a good deal of urine, but this type of test can help to determine the diagnosis of marijuana intoxication. This is very important to the health and future welfare of your pet.

The way that dogs can ingest the marijuana is through the plant itself, through bong water, marijuana butter (melted butter with weed in it; when combined the fat soluble cannabinoids leech into the butter and create a higher concentration of THC), and brownies or cookies made with marijuana in them (very dangerous if marijuana and chocolate or marijuana and raisins are combined – creating a lethal cookie or brownie!).

Whatever your choices in life, do try to do them safely; without harm to other living beings. Your dog does not even realize what drugs are as they are foreign to them.

If marijuana is your drug of choice, make certain that you clean up after yourself and keep the dog away from your stash. You may just be saving his or her life. Dogs don’t break bad, people do.
