'Breaking Bad' actor heads 'Under the Dome'

In recent news, Dean Norris, who plays DEA agent Hank Shrader on "Breaking Bad" asked if his character could be killed off so that he could work on other projects. While AMC thought he was an integral part of the remaining season, they chose not to do that, however, on Feb. 14 Entertainment Weekly tells fans that Norris has taken the lead villain part in CBS' new Stephen King drama "Under the Dome."

Norris will play James "Big Jim" Rennie the politician and car dealership owner who takes the opportunity to gain control over the town mill that has mysteriously been sealed off by an unknown force. The show is an adaptation of the Stephen King novel by the same name. The first season is slated to begin June 24 with 13 episodes.

The full cast line up hasn't been announced as of yet, however, there are a few key players in the upcoming show that are already known. Mike Vogel will be playing the main character Army officer Dale "Barbie" Barbara, Britt Robertson will play a waitress in a local diner while Natalie Martinez is set to play an persistent sheriff's deputy.

There were several potential villains that auditioned for the part of "Big Jim" but once Norris tried out, it was apparent that he was the best man for the part. Are you excited to see the Stephen King adaptation?
