Breakfast just exploded in your mouth: Churro waffles are a treat of a meal

Churros are a wonderful treat to share with the family and usually are served as a snack in the afternoon or evening. Now you can enjoy that same flavor you love in the morning at breakfast time. Just pull out that waffle iron and create a batter that will burst in your mouth and turn your taste buds on and surprise the entire family with a wholesome breakfast meal.

Churro waffle batter ingredients:

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 ½ cups of slightly warmed milk
  • 1/3 cup of melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ¼ tablespoons of baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla
  • ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon

Churro waffle topping ingredients:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of cinnamon
  • ½ cup of melted butter

Directions for batter:

  1. Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together in a large bowl then set it aside.
  2. In another mixing bowl beat the eggs then stir in the melted butter, milk and vanilla.
  3. Combine the egg mixture into the flour bowl slowly and mix gently until fully incorporated.
  4. Add the cinnamon to the batter and stir by hand until just combined.
  5. Preheat the waffle iron and pour the batter onto the hot grates and cook until golden brown.

Directions for topping:

  1. Mix together the sugar and cinnamon in an oval bowl or a square baking pan.
  2. Melt butter in a shallow dish just slightly larger than the waffles.
  3. Dip the just cooked waffles lightly into the melted butter.
  4. Then gently press the buttered waffles into the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  5. Place the Churro waffles on a platter and serve while hot.
  6. Enjoy!
