The very best place for breakfast on Nantucket is surely Fog Island Café, and even if your boat gets in at 11:30, you can still make it to Fog Island while they are still serving breakfast. Lunches are great, too. Sundays, breakfast only.
Run by Mark and Anne Dawson, both CIA grads, the café has been in their hands since 1993, serving delicious breakfasts and imaginative lunches.
For our breakfast this past Sunday we tried out their spectacular sausage biscuit with scrambled egg and cheddar ($10.95), and their marvelous fresh fruit bowl ($9.95). Both are beautiful to behold as well as terrific eating.
Service is fast and friendly, and families are welcome. You really can’t do better on prices, either. We’ll be back every year.
